Illinois Connection 2016 Annual Meeting a success
Illinois Connection’s 2016 Annual Meeting took place on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the President’s House in Urbana, Ill. Approximately 150 advocates gathered to discuss the University of Illinois System’s future and public policy, and to hear the latest on advocacy efforts from both University and UI Alumni Association leaders.
At the beginning of the event, advocates and guests enjoyed an interactive activity, via their mobile phones, that allowed them to provide Illinois Connection and University leadership with feedback regarding past advocacy efforts. UI Alumni Association Board Member and Advocacy Committee Chair Bridget Lamont and UI Alumni Association Vice President of Alumni Community Development Matt Wilson delivered remarks on behalf of Illinois Connection, House Majority Leader Representative Lou Lang shared how advocacy volunteers could be more effective in their advocacy efforts, and University of Illinois President Killeen presented the group with a bold vision of advocacy in 2017 and beyond.
